More cleaning today. I cleaned most of the external parts from the motor, including the timing chain cover and bolts, fan pulley, fan, pushrods, tappets (ok, not just external parts), and timing chain parts. I also tore the distributor apart and cleaned some of its components.
I was able to extract the broken front pulley bolt from the crankshaft by drilling through it and using an easy-out to turn it out.
Tomorrow I'll concentrate on getting the 3rd piston freed up so I can
get the crank and cam removed, clean up the block, and get it into Barron's
to have them boil it, magnaflux it, and if it's ok, bore it out.
I took the head over to Randy's house today to have him tear it down and
clean it up. When he's done with it, I'll take it to Barron's to
have them magnaflux it. I think I'll rebuild it with a kit that will
allow me to burn unleaded fuel. It's $300, but I think it would be
worth it.
