It's been awhile since the last update, and I've done quite a bit since then, but not much new. I cleaned more things, primed more things, and painted the air cleaner covers. Among the items I dismantled, cleaned, and primed were the starter, generator, and oil pan. I also reassembled the distributor.
I got the pistons in and took them down to the machine shop. Moss messed up the order for the cam bearings, so I had Barron's get them from Federal Mogul in Kansas City. I expect all the block work to be completed yet this week. The head hadn't returned yet as of Tuesday, so I'm not sure when that will be done. The guy at Barron's told me that the place doing the welding would install new, hardened exhaust seats that would allow me to burn unleaded fuel, and that that would be all I need to do to be able to burn unleaded. I'm not sure if I believe him or not, because Victoria British in Kansas City sells a "no lead head" kit for $300 that includes all kinds of stuff: valves, guides, springs, gasket set, etc. I think I'll check with a couple of people that work on cars to get their opinion of what I need.
A "before" shot of the oil pan.
Components on the end of the starter.
More components on the end of the starter, further dismantled.
An "after" shot of the air cleaner covers.
