Daily Log for: April 15,

The big day finally arrived! We took the 'B for a test drive (actually,
several test drives) up and down the street. We live on a dead end
street, so although I don't have insurance yet, it was pretty safe. It
ran great! A couple of problems cropped up, though. The shocks
didn't seem to be doing much, so we "bled" them. Problem solved. Also,
the brakes don't seem to brake real well. We'll try bleeding the system
a little more, because the first pump on the pedal is still somewhat softer
than subsequent pumps. But the biggest problem is that it doesn't want
to go into 2nd gear while moving, as if the synchro is bad. But we
replaced all the synchros, so we're looking at the hydraulics. The clutch
engages and releases very near the floorboard, so we're hopeful that if
we can solve this problem we may solve the 2nd gear problem.
