We had another near-catastrophe this week.  Last Sunday we took the 'B on it's first road trip...a 55 or 60 mile run up to my parents house.  It was quite hot, with temps in the low 90's and high humidity.  The car ran great, although the temp gauge ran on or slightly above the 212 mark most of the way, particularly on upgrades. I've found a solution to this on the internet.  Apparently the radiators that Moss sells are made in China and they're junk, with just 3 rows.  This is exactly what I bought.  I've read that they need to have a 4 row, L type core, so I need to either get mine re-cored, or find the proper radiator somewhere.  Anyway, I left the car at my parents house because my brother's family was heading up there later in the day, and I thought he'd like to drive it home.  Again, it ran great all the way home.  My brother took it to his house to look at a couple of things (the speedometer quit working and he determined that the cable broke because we had a kink in it under the dash).  A couple of days later he was on his way to my house to bring it back and it developed a really bad vibration, so he turned around and took it back to his house.  After a small amount of investigation, he determined that the front u-joint on the drive shaft had lost an e-clip, which in turn caused it to lose a cup.  While the fact that it happened is bad, it's really a good thing it didn't happen on the freeway, so we feel quite lucky.  We're getting close to the point where we'll do a 500 mile checkup, so we'll go through everything then to make sure it's all tight.

In the meantime, here's the latest pictures of the nearly completed project.  I need to get my brother to go out with me sometime to get some good pictures, because his digital camera has much better resolution, resulting in sharper pictures.  We still need to install a couple of seals for the quarterlights (I've read that MacGregor British Car Parts in Canada sells the best rubber fittings, so I've ordered from them), and permanently install the tunnel carpet and the battery cover carpet, but otherwise it's complete.  Looks a little different than the starting pictures , wouldn't you say?
