Daily Log for: August 18,
2002
Well, today we received the reward for 2 1/2 + years of hard work, sweat,
and investment. We entered our first show, Autofest 2002 in Davenport,
Iowa, and won 1st place in class! What a rewarding experience! It's
really a great feeling to have people come by and look your car over, ask
if you're the owner, then say "great looking car". And then to have
them vote for it enough to make it 1st in class, that just caps it off!!
We saw a lot of cars we'd never seen before. Besides MGBs, there were
MGAs, MG TCs, TDs, and TFs, a couple of older MGs, a bunch of Triumphs (TR2s,
TR4s, TR6s, Spitfires, Sprites), a bunch of Minis, both old and new, Jags,
a couple of Sunbeams, a Rolls Royce, a Morgan, a Jensen Intercepter, several
Land Rovers, a Lotus Elan, an Elva, and the winner of the Best in Show award
was a beautiful Nash Metropolitan. Here's a few pictures of the gathering.
