Mount Trashmore is located just to the east Czech Village. As the name suggests it is indeed the City of Cedar Rapids closed landfill. It is now a public access area with hiking trails and biking trails. At the top of Mount Trashmore is a covered overlook with quite a view of Cedar Rapids. Just look to the east when in the downtown area or driving thru Cedar Rapids.

After the flood of 2008 Cedar Rapids was facing a dire need for more places to take storm damage refuse. The city of Cedar Rapids decided to reopen Mount Trashmore to help handle the storm damage. It reclosed in 2012. During that time another 30 feet of height was added to Mount Trashmore.

The highest land point in Iowa is in western Iowa on a private farm. The land owner called it Hawkeye Point and is 1,960 feet above sea level. Mount Trashmore is 960 Feet.
