Finally...another update.  I've just been putzing around with more cleaning and painting.  I'm having a tough time with the paint crackling up after spraying a clear coat on some of the things.  In particular the master cylinder cover.  I had to start over by completely stripping it down to bare metal again after getting it all smoothed out and looking great, except for a couple of small areas that bubbled up.  I think the problem is a combination of things:  1) a mismatch between the type of paint I'm using and the type of clear coat, and 2) I think maybe I'm spraying the clear coat on too thick.  Because of this problem I've decided not to clear coat the engine...I just don't want it to bubble up and look nasty.

Randy came over today and we torqued down the head and the water pump, and installed the distributor drive.  It looks great!  I stopped over at his house to see what all needs to be ordered for the transmission (here come the bills again).  I also sent more things home with him to rebuild, including the drive shaft and new u-joints, the starter, and the generator.

Here it is...it's starting to look like a motor!
