Once again, it's been a while since my last update, but that doesn't mean nothings been happening.  The car is still at the body shop.  At last check, they hadn't started working on it yet, but should be soon.  All the body panels (4 fender repair panels, both floor pans, the rear valence, and the battery boxes) have come in, so once they get to it, they should be able to make good progress.

In the meantime, I've been doing a lot of cleaning, sandblasting, plating, priming and painting.  I've done almost all of the parts that the body shop will need in order to reinstall the fenders, trunk, door, hood, etc.  I've decided to re-do many of the pieces of hardware that I had previously cleaned and sprayed with a coat of clear.  I think they look much better with a zinc plating, so I've been sandblasting them, then plating them.  This will slow down the re-assembly process, but I think it's worth it.

I think I'm going to buy new leaf springs.  I got an estimate from a machine shop for building the clips that hold the leaves together.  They wanted $129!  I can get a new set of springs for $126, so the choice is between re-using the old clips and taking a chance that they will not break from being bent a couple of times, and buying new ones which will probably require painting anyway.

I bought most of the things I'm going to need during Moss' 15% off sale.  I got the convertible top, both bumpers, and a bunch of other stuff, including the body repair panels.
 

Here's a couple of shots of a clip for mounting the parking brake cable.  I was going to take another picture after plating, but forgot.  It turned out pretty nice, but it was so pitted from corrosion that I decided to buy a new one.

Here's a couple of shots of the cups that hold the turn signal bulbs.  I'm going to have to figure out a way to re-create the rubber seals.

 

The next 2 shots are the "after" view of one of the front turn signal bases.  It really cleaned up nice...not quite as nice as it looks in the picture, but nice just the same.  It really came to life after I sandblased it, then plated it.

 

The next 5 pictures are comparisons between the one base that was cleaned, and the one that wasn't, just to give an idea of the difference.
